Lexington Resident and Bank of America Exec Killed in Skiing Accident

James L. Wong, a husband, father, coach and banking exec, died Saturday after crashing into a tree while skiing at Sugarbush.

A Lexington resident and vice president for Bank of America in Boston died Saturday, Feb. 4 following a skiing accident at Sugarbush Resort in Vermont.  James L. Wong, 41, reportedly died in the emergency room from “blunt impacts of torso and left arm” suffered after he lost control on the slopes and crashed into a tree, the Burlington Free Press reported last night. Wong, who was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was at the resort with this wife and two children, according to WCBV Boston.  A New Jersey native and Lafayette graduate, Wong was a vice president for Bank of America’s Boston operations. POLL: Would You Ditch the Big Banks?

Well, it looks like Bank of America has ditched its plan to hit cardholders with a $5 monthly fee for making debit card purchases. But that move came only after customers and Occupiers threatened -- and, to some extent, executed -- a migration away the big banks in favor of smaller, nonprofit credit unions. According to the Huffington Post, there has also been a push for credit unions in the form of a national "Bank Transfer Day," on Nov. 5. So, with that in mind, we want to know, Would you consider leaving your bank for a credit union? Why or why not?

My first bank account was with a credit union, thanks to my dad who worked for the local school system when I was growing up. I opened my account (with him as a joint owner) at age 15. The only "big bank" account I ever had was during college, when I opened a Citizens Bank account because they had the only ATMs on campus. I closed that account shortly after graduation.
