Betty's Bounce Kicks Off Munroe Saturday Nights This Weekend

The performing arts series begins its third season on Saturday, Sep. 8, featuring a performance by the Lexington-based Betty’s Bounce.

The following was provided on behalf of the Munroe Center for the Arts. Betty’s Bounce, a local jazz trio performing the evocative, toe-tapping music known as ‘Gypsy Jazz,’ will kick off the third season of the Munroe Saturday Nights performing arts series in Lexington on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. Based in Lexington, Betty’s Bounce performs music in the style of Django Reinhardt, which originated in France in the 1930s. Reinhardt teamed with violinist Stéphane Grappelli to co-found the “Quintette du Hot Club de France,” whose music from the 1930’s and 40’s epitomized the genre. The repertoire of Betty’s Bounce includes classics from that period but also modern popular tunes played with a “gypsy” twist. The Betty’s Bounce concert, …
