The Lexington High boys soccer team beat Burlingtoon 3-2 on a dreary Wednesday afternoon at Varsity Field in Burlington. The game was tied 2-2 in the late stages of the contest until Lexington’s Stefano Gambino fired a shot past Burlington goalie Joe Renaud with about seven minutes left in the game. “I thought we played really well,” Lexington coach Dan Rudolph said. “Burlington is a really strong team, particularly up the middle, so this was a good win. I thought it was a really well played game, great back and forth action.” Burlington had the first couple scoring chances of the game in the opening minutes of play. Minutemen rout the Red Devils on Senior Day.
The seven seniors on Lexington High School’s girls lacrosse team had much to celebrate on Tuesday afternoon. It was senior day, as the team played its final home game at Lincoln Field, and the girls easily defeated Burlington High School for the second time this season This time LHS nearly tripled up the Red Devils with a 17-6 victory. The Minutemen sprang out to a 3-0 lead against the Red Devils as senior captains Diana Hines and Meghan McNabb and classmate Amanda Bouchard buried shots from in close to the crease. Lexington allowed Burlington to come within two goals, at 3-1, on Burlington’s first score at 22:51 in the first. But that was as close as the Red Devils would get all game long.
