Bulger, who was arrested with galpal Catherine Greig, had been wanted for at least 19 murders that occurred decades ago in connection with his leadership of the Winter Hill Gang, an organization the FBI alleges "controlled extortion, drug deals and other illegal activities" in and around Boston.
