From Minuteman to Amazin'? NY Mets Select Chris Shaw in MLB Draft

The Lexington High slugger and BC commit was one of three current or future Eagles selected in the 2012 MLB draft this week.

With the 800th pick in the 26th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft, the New York Mets on Wednesday selected Chris Shaw, the standout first baseman and pitcher from Lexington High. News of Shaw’s selection comes less than a week after the Minutemen were bounced from postseason play following a tough 10-7 loss to the visiting Newton North Tigers. A perennial all-star and league MVP who swatted 7 home runs and struck out 95 this season for the Minutemen, Shaw's selection was no accident – but it may have almost caused one.
