With Planning Board Support, Inn at Hastings Park Heads to BOS

The Board of Selectmen's consideration of a Memorandum of Understanding this Thursday could be the last step before Town Meeting takes up a proposal to redevelop the Dana Home as a hotel and restaurant.

Monday night was a step in the right direction for Trisha Perez Keneally, the Lexington resident looking to redevelop the Dana Home as an upscale hotel and restaurant concept known as The Inn at Hastings Park. By at 3 to 1 vote with one board member not present for the vote, Kennealy’s concept earned a measure of support from the Planning Board, which recommended approval of a Preliminary Site Development and Use Plan, conditioned upon the execution of an acceptable Memorandum of Understanding with the Board of Selectmen. To read the Planning Board’s full report, check out the PDF posted to your right. The MOU is on the the Board of Selectmen’s agenda for tomorrow evening, a meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Cary Hall. “We’re very pleased…

It also seems like many of the most vocal opponents live close to The Dana Home and feel it could possibly impact their day to day living. It was also interesting to me that …   more ›

Planning Board Closes Hearing, Continues Dana Home Deliberations

With an April 30 date certain at Town Meeting and questions still unanswered, deadlines loom for proponents of the project to deliver final amendments to Article 34 and for the Planning Board to make its recommendation.

The Planning Board has committed to presenting a report and recommendation to Town Meeting prior to a vote on Article 34, and Chairman Richard Canale said last night that his board should settle on a recommendation no later than next Wednesday, …

Dana Home Recommendation Delayed

The Planning Board heard from all sides regarding Article 34 and whether to re-zone 2013 and 2027 Mass. Ave. at Thursday night's meeting. Their ultimate decision was to continue the hearing until the board's April 18 meeting.

The Planning Board held a public hearing Thursday night to weigh whether it would support Town Meeting Article 34, which seeks the rezoning of 2013 and 2027 Mass. Ave. to allow for commercial redevelopment, specifically, to allow Trisha Perez Kennealy's proposal on an inn/restaurant to be considered. After nearly four hours of hearing from Kennealy and her team of developers from AB Holdings LLC and listening to residents speak for or against the article, the Planning Board decided to continue the public hearing until their next meeting, on April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Cary Hall. The board wasn't comfortable making a decision about the Dana Home proposal on April 12 despite the wealth of information received, saying that it simply needed more …

A Status Update on Annual Town Meeting

A look at what's happened so far and what's still ahead for Lexington's 2012 annual Town Meeting.

With four nights down and at least as many to go, annual Town Meeting has put the operating budget to bed, approved funding for a new Estabrook School in a April 2 special Town Meeting, and voted to allow residential uses within the Lexington Center Business District. But there is still much business ahead, including a citizen’s petition seeking a school bus subsidy and a controversial zoning amendment to allow redevelopment of the Dana Home and an adjacent property as a hotel and restaurant. On Wednesday, April 4, Town Meeting approved a more than $150 million operating budget for fiscal 2013, as well as the first three CPA projects, leaving another nine Community Preservation Committee requests for the start of the next session, on …
