When we ended our spring run of Patch Readers' Choice contests a few weeks ago, we had intended to take a summer break. But we're back already, with a new slew of Readers' Choice contests that are all happening now. At the same time. Starting today. We want to know who/what/where you think is the best in Lexington. The votes, comments and reviews have been tallied and Lexington Patch readers have picked their favorite place to staycation around Lexington.
Congratulations to Cary Memorial Library, your pick for Lexington's best staycation destination. The library, located on Mass Ave in Lexington Center, edged out the town's historic houses in this week's Best of Patch Readers' Choice poll, tallying nine of the 27 votes cast. The historic houses -- including the Buckman Tavern, Hancock-Clarke Parsonage and Munroe Tavern -- earned second place with six votes. Other places receiving votes included Minute Man National Historical Park (3), Walden Pond (3), the Liberty Ride (2), National Heritage Museum (1), the Alcott Orchard House (1) and the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln (2). The votes, comments and reviews have been tallied and Lexington Patch readers have picked their favorite dessert spot in town.
The votes were pretty well spread around this week, but in the end it was Royal Pastry Shop that came away as the winner of our Best of Patch Readers’ Choice poll looking for Lexington’s best dessert. It was a close race, but with 12 of 43 votes, Royal Pastry Shop had edged out Wilson Farm (10 votes) when the poll closed at 9 a.m. this morning. Sweet Thyme Bakery earned the third spot on the list with 5 votes, and cake. and Via Lago notched 4 votes apiece. There was also support for La Riviera and Macaron Sweeterie (3 votes each) and Tutto Italiano (2 votes). The votes, comments and reviews have been tallied and Lexington Patch readers have picked their favorite sporting goods store in town.
This one wasn’t close. With 29 of 34 total votes, Tricon Sports rules as the top local sporting goods store, according to Lexington Patch readers who participated in this week’s Best of Patch Readers’ Choice poll. Voting closed at 9 a.m. this morning, April 13, but Tricon raced away from the field straight out of the gates on Monday. Tricon Sports also received a positive business review this week. “Tricon has the best prices, friendly staff and great sports gear,” wrote Patch user Chorlette O’Neill. “I shop here for all my kids sports equipment, bats, gloves, swimming, cleats etc… The customer service is top notch especially on a Saturday on the first day of the soccer.
