Farmers' Market Opens Next Week

One week from today, the Lexington Farmers Market opens for the season.

One week from today, farmers, flowers, organics and artisans will once again claim the corner of Woburn Street and Massachusetts Avenue, as the Lexington Farmers' Market opens its seventh season. Karen Masterson, owner of nourish restaurant, will ring the opening bell at 2 p.m. next Tuesday, May 31, to signify the opening of the 22-week season that bring seasonal vegetables and more to the streets of Lexington. "This is the first year I was overwhelmed with the number of applicants," said Lori Deliso, who has been with the market since the beginning. "I'm really excited about it. It's the best lineup of farmers and vendors we've ever had." This year's lineup features 39 total farmers, artisans and other vendors, with 32 filling spaces on …

Notes From the May 16 Selectmen's Meeting

Lexington selectmen tackled several hot-button issues on Monday.

In a marathon meeting Monday, the Board of Selectmen tackled several hot-button issues, including Estabrook access, organic waste treatment, the Busa Land, the Battle Road Scenic Byway plans and wine sales at the Farmer's Market. Estabrook Task Force Approved As the clock clicked past 10 p.m., the selectmen voted to approve the charge of an Estabrook School Access Task Force, accept Michelle Ciccolo as its chair and designate Town Manager Carl Valente and Superintendent of Schools Paul Ash as the appointing authorities. The final action, the selectmen said, was an effort to expedite the appointment process, but it's unclear it it will have that effect. Notes From the May 2 Board of Selectmen's Meeting

Lexington selectmen approve Public Works items and more.

Lexington’s Board of Selectmen last night approved a host of Public Works-related items, including the formation of a task force charged with studying possibilities for future trash and recycling contracts. The board also agreed to allow long-time former residents to purchase burial plots at Westview Cemetery, endorsed a proclamation recognizing the week of May 15 as National Public Works Week and cleared up regulations for wine sales at the Lexington Farmers’ Market.
