Fashion Forward: Women's Cothing Boutique Opens in Lexington Center (Video)

Petra Lexington opened Friday, March 1, following a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by local business leaders, officials, friends and family members.

With some oversized scissors and a snip of the ribbon, Lexington's newest business opened Friday, March 1 to cheers from local business leaders, town officials and proprietor Petra Hoffmann's friends and family. Petra Lexington, a women's fashion boutique, occupies the space at 1844 Mass Ave., the former home of the Greater Boston Running Company, which has moved down the road just a little ways. In an interview with Patch earlier this year, Hoffmann said an interesting inventory and personal service would be a part of the design for the business.  “It’s personal shopping,” Hoffmann said, “I don’t care who you are or what you do; if you have an appointment or if you’re buying a T-shirt, this is what I do. PHOTOS: Spring Fashions Hit the LexGO! Stage

A look inside the filming of LexGO! Talk Show's spring fashion episode, airing May 11 to June 1.

The carpet was purple and blue, but the designs befitting of a more crimson runner. That was the scene inside the LexMedia studios on Wednesday afternoon as resident Colleen Smith's LexGO! Talk Show filmed a fashion show with a focus on the spring and prom seasons.  Smith sat on-set beside Emilia Delgado, a local designer and owner of Emilia Creations on Mass Ave in Lexington, as a few Lexington High School students and local moms modeled dresses that highlighted the latest trends and Delgado's signature silk designs. Bright colors, like teal and orange, are big this year, the women said, but Delgado suggests pairing a bright color with a classic shape.  "People shouldn't be afraid to wear colors," she said. Sara Campbell designs were featured in Mount Auburn Hospital Auxiliary's annual Spring Benefit Fashion Show and Luncheon.

Mount Auburn Hospital Auxiliary’s Annual Spring Benefit Fashion Show and Luncheon went out with a fashionable bang last Wednesday, April 18, and a few Lexington women had a part in the show.  This year’s show, held at the Oakley Country Club in Watertown, featured fashions by Boston-based designer Sara Campbell and this year’s proceeds will advance further improvements at Mount Auburn as it becomes an all-private room hospital and expands services in cardiology, obstetrics, geriatrics and cancer care. The event was planned by Jan Ankerson and co-chaired by Watertown Committee Chair Sylvia Whitney, and Director Ruth Pratt of Lexington, who secured the models and designer. PHOTO: Local Ladies Enjoy Fashion Week Event

Lexington residents Evelyn Milona, Joanne Vallas, Amelia Yanakis were caught on camera checking out the latest fall fashions at a Boston Fashion Week offshoot earlier this month at the Burlington Mall.

As Boston Fashion Week wrapped Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, local fashionistas headed over to the Burlington Mall for the Simon Fashion Show Now, a two-day event filled with trends, friends and all things fashion.  According to a press release, the festivities included shows featuring the freshest fall fashions for men, women and children -- all of which were available for purchase at mall retailers. The two-day fashion event was sponsored by Salem Five Bank, which recently opened a boutique banking concept at Burlington Mall, the press release said.
