A LexMedia volunteer lost his car to a fast-moving fire on May 9, right outside the offices at Avalon at Lexington Hills.
Shortly before 4 p.m. today, May 9, Jim Baker’s plans for the evening changed in a big way. A former sportswriter for the Boston Herald, Baker had found a great retirement gig covering high school sports for LexMedia. On Monday afternoon, he dropped by the LexMedia headquarters at Avalon Lexington Hills to do some editing of a recent Lexington High School softball game against Burlington High. Baker said he had a cigar in the car, but didn’t think he’d left it lit.
