A timeless family tradition has made its way back into the family room, but do board games make kids smarter?

I haven’t always liked board games, but now that I am older and wiser I know it is because my three older brothers always been the pants off me at most any game we played. My dad was about the only one who “let” me win from time to time. Now that I have kids we have really gotten into the spirit of board games, I look for games that teach them something no matter how small. Recently, I discovered that with a little coaxing most any board game can be a learning experience for kids. Very quickly I saw how board games helped both kids learn about taking turns. Raising Lexington: Apples Don't Fall Far from the Tree

Most of us swear up and down that we will do things differently when it comes to raising our own children but in the end, do we?

So, we had finally moved into our new house and were taking advantage of all the wonderful things Lexington has to offer when I suggested a walk into town after dinner a few nights ago. The kids eagerly slipped on their shoes and grabbed our hands. It wasn’t long before they spotted Lexington Battle Green and, like caged bulls being released from their pens, bounded away from our grasp and went running through the lawn. It was a sight that, after years of house hunting, sat very well with both my husband and me.
