State Sen. Donnelly Wins Re-Election

With a majority of town reporting the race is being called for Kenneth Donnelly.

State Sen. Ken Donnelly, D-Arlington, has been re-elected by district voters to continue to represent the Fourth Middlesex District based on the towns that have reported thus far.  The district includes the towns of Arlington, Woburn, Lexington, Burlington and Billerica. At this time Woburn, Burlington and Arlington have reported the results of the state senator's re-election bid against Republican challenger Gerry Dembrowski. In Woburn Donnelly took 10,065 votes versus Dembrowski's 6,989. In Burlington he won 7,310 to 4,769. In Lexington, Donnelly tallied 8,239 votes to Dembrowski's 2,664. And in his hometown of Arlington he took a whopping 19,292 to 4,283. Billerica had not reported results at the time of this report. Donnelly was first …

Sen. Donnelly, Panel Discuss State Budget

Service cuts and ideas for new revenue were laid out Tuesday night in Lexington.

Sometimes, politicians need help from the people to provide help for the people. Climbing out of a deep recession while facing a billion-dollar budget deficit, apparently, is one of those times. And that’s why state Sen. Ken Donnelly, D-Arlington, hosted a fiscal 2012 budget forum Tuesday, May 17, at Lexington’s Cary Hall. On the eve of his vote on a senate budget, Donnelly put together a four-person panel to speak about the impact of potential programmatic cuts and proposals to increase tax revenue. According to Donnelly, the current fiscal constraints put seniors, people out of work and veterans at risk of losing services, while public health, recreation and education programs face cuts.
