Two residents reported paying for work never completed.
Lexington police are investigating alleged contract and business schemes in town after two residents say they paid for work at their homes that was never started, let alone completed. Two homeowners, from Earl and Merriam streets, said they paid for the removal of oil tanks from their properties, and neither received the services, said Lexington Police Capt. Joseph O’Leary. O'Leary told Patch that a state assistant district attorney asked Lexington to conduct an investigation into the alleged contract and business schemes. The alleged thief reportedly used a bad check on a bundle of gift cards.
Lexington Police last week arrested a Winchester man who allegedly walked away from Stop & Shop with $3,000 worth of gift cards after writing a check the market couldn’t cash. According to Lt. Det. Michael McLean, the supermarket's security recently approached police with information about a man using a bad check to steal $3,000 in unknown gift cards. Police were able to trace the old check back to Edward J. King, 38, of 80 Irving St., Winchester, and called him into the station for an interview, McLean said. During his conversation with Lexington investigators, King reportedly made a comment that led to his arrest for larceny by check. Police are investigating the reported theft of expensive tools and copper from a job site on Forbes Road.
Lexington Police are investigating the alleged theft of high-end tools and copper from a construction site for MIT Lincoln Labs. According to a police report, a call came in shortly before 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12 reporting a breaking-and-entering to tool storage containers on Forbes Road, which is located off Route 2A. Seven of the eight companies on the site reported they were missing expensive tools and it appears the alleged thieves were targeting copper, as well, police said. A Lynn man is facing larceny charges after allegedly stealing $21,000 worth of sneakers from the Spring Street shoemaker and attempting to sell them at a flea market in his hometown.
Lexington Police detectives on Saturday arrested a Lynn man who allegedly stole sneakers from Stride Rite and sold them at a flea market in his hometown. According to Lt. Det. Michael McLean, Collective Brands, the parent company of Stride Rite Corporation, came to the police with evidence that an employee was stealing sneakers from the company. After an investigation by the LPD detectives bureau confirmed the alleged theft was taking place, police applied for and executed search and arrest warrants for Arnaldo Santini, 29, of 29 Orchid St., Lynn.
