Lextended Day Granted After-School Program Lease and other Announcements
Some major and minor announcements at this week's School Committee Meeting.
The School Committee on Tuesday announced the Lextended Day after school program was granted the extended-day lease throughout the Lexington Public Schools. The 30-year-old Lextended Day (Bridge Extended Day, Inc.) beat out several outside after-school companies including, Springboard and Champions, allowing Lexington after-school programs to remain town-run. “Lextended Day has the higher quality program and a better transition plan" Mary Ellen Dunn, assistant superintendent of finance and business, said in a letter read at the School Committee's April 26 meetng. “While Springboard and Champions appear to offer great programming for students, there were mixed references from our school district peers."
