K-12 District Art Show, Opening and Auction: The Lexington Public Schools annual K-12 District Art Show will open at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Cary Hall, featuring artwork from all classes, including those classes that are technology-based. 1. Town Meeting Resumes Tonight: At 7:30 p.m. at Cary Memorial Hall. 2. Band Festival Concert: All three of Lexington High's bands will perform at 7:30 p.m. at LHS. According to the event description, highlights will include: the Wind Ensemble’s premiere of Mark Miller’s Ebony Seasons, a new work inspired by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons featuring clarinetists Tom Jeon, Kyuil Lee, Ed Shin, and Phil Jung; they will also play Michael Gandolfi’s Vientos y Tangos. Lexington Student Art Show to Open April 2

The art show opening and auction scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. that night at Cary Hall.

  Artwork created by Lexington Public Schools students, in mediums ranging from the classic to the technology-based, will be on display at the Cary Memorial Building from Tuesday, April 2 through Saturday, April 6. The K-12 District Art Show will open at 6:30 p.m. on April 2, according to a press release from the Friends of Lexington Music, Art and Drama Students (FOLMADS), and the exhibit will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 6. Lexington Students Win Prizes in National Art Competition

National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards were announced recently.

At least four students who live or learn in Lexington have won prizes in the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Lexington native Phoebe Britton, a senior at the Landmark School, was recently named a Gold Award winner for her “Self Portrait,” a charcoal illustration.  In a press release, Landmark Headmaster Bob Broudo called Britton’s work “outstanding” and said it was excited to see the work recognized on a national level after earning a Gold Key in the Massachusetts Scholastic Art and Writing Awards last month. Britton was not the only local student honored. According to the Globe, 92 Massachusetts students were honored, representing 58 schools and 44 cities and towns.
