Lexington's Farmer's Market opens, the School Committee meets and more.
1. Today's the day many locals have been waiting for: Opening day for the Lexington Farmer's Market. At 2 p.m. this afternoon, farmers, flowers, artisans and organics will converge at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Woburn Street for the first of a 22-week season. 2. The School Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Town Office Building and the agenda includes an update on the anti-bullying prevention program, a first reading of a draft animals in school policy and a third reading of the medication policy. 3. Lexington selectmen tackled several hot-button issues on Monday.
In a marathon meeting Monday, the Board of Selectmen tackled several hot-button issues, including Estabrook access, organic waste treatment, the Busa Land, the Battle Road Scenic Byway plans and wine sales at the Farmer's Market. Estabrook Task Force Approved As the clock clicked past 10 p.m., the selectmen voted to approve the charge of an Estabrook School Access Task Force, accept Michelle Ciccolo as its chair and designate Town Manager Carl Valente and Superintendent of Schools Paul Ash as the appointing authorities. The final action, the selectmen said, was an effort to expedite the appointment process, but it's unclear it it will have that effect.
