Reception for White Tricorne Hat, Outstanding Youth Award Recipients

The Lexington Lions Club will host a reception this Sunday, April 22, from 2 to 4 p.m.

On the Battle Green Monday morning, admid all of the town's Patriots' Day festivities, Lexington resident Eric Carlson was awarded the White Tricorne Hat and Leah Buckley and Matthew Smoot received 2012's Outstanding Youth of the Year awards. This Sunday, April 22, the Lexington Lions Club will host a reception for the receipients of the two awards from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Historical Society Building in the Lexington Depot.  The White Tricorne Hat has been awarded to an "outstanding" Lexington resident since 1954, and the Lions Club solicits for nominees each year. According to the award criteria the White Tricorne Hat Committee uses to judge nominees, the candidate must be a current resident of Lexington and not a major elected office …

Lions Club's Looking for White Tricorne Hat Nominations

Know any outstanding Lexingtonians? The Lions Club is now soliciting nominations for a resident to award with this year's White Tricorne Hat.

The following press release was provided by the Lexington Lions Club. On Patriots Day, April 16, 2012, the Lexington Lions Club will again present, as it has each year since 1954, a White Tricorne Hat honoring an outstanding resident of Lexington. Lions Club President Jonathan Doran will present this year’s award will be presented during the morning ceremonies on the Battle Green. The Lions Club is now soliciting nominations for this honor from the public. Carnival Opens Early for Good Cause [VIDEO]

The Lexington Lions Club on Thursday opened the gates to its Fourth of July carnival a few hours early for special needs students from area institutions.

Hours before the public poured through its gates Thursday evening, the Lexington Lions Club's 55th annual Fourth of July Carnival welcomed a couple hundred special guests.  They trickled in slowly at first. A few at a time the parents arrived with their sons and daughters, lining up politely in twos and threes before boarding bumper cars or the carousel. As the mid-afternoon sun beat down upon the carnival consuming Center Playground, smiles crept across the faces of the Lions Club volunteers: The busses had arrived. “Before the carnival opens for the public, we are entertaining children, and some older children/adults from the Perkins School, the Carroll Center for the Blind and the Cotting School," said Janet Perry, second vice president…

Fourth of July Carnival Coming Up

The Lexington Lions Club's 55th annual Fourth of July carnival runs from June 30 to July 4.

Independence Day is still nearly a week away, but the holiday weekend is starting early here in Lexington as the Lions Club’s 55th annual Fourth of July carnival kicks off Thursday, June 30 at the Center Playground on Worthen Road. Folks both in- and outside the Lions Club look at the carnival as an official start to summer, according to Janet Perry, second vice president for the Lexington Lions Club. “That’s what we think,” said Perry. “It’s a real kind of a family event. Everybody seems to have a good time and if you live in town a long time, you get to see a lot of people who you don’t get to see a lot otherwise. It’s kind of nice that way.
