UPDATED: 3 Lexington Students Taken to Hospital After School Bus Crash (VIDEO)

The accident occurred on the ramp between Route 2 and Spring Street. The students are OK and have been reunited with their parents, according to the Lexington Public Schools.

UPDATE: 10:40 a.m. Three Bridge Elementary School students and a adult female motorist were transported to area hospitals follwing a school bus-involved accident Friday morning on the ramp from Route 2 to Spring Street in Lexington. The students were transported to Emerson Hospital in Concord, while the woman was taken to Lahey Clinic, a trauma center in Burlington, according to a Lexington Police officer at the scene. The children were tranported as a precautionary measure, and have been reunited with their parents, according to a press release from the Lexington Public Schools. "All other students have been assessed and evaluated by school staff and Lexington emergency responders," the press release said. "All students are doing fine. …

Police Log: Turtle Crossing, Vandalism, One Arrest

Monday, July 9 7:25 a.m. – Kind-hearted police officers responded to East Street for a turtle in the roadway. Apparently the land reptile wanted to cross. No hazard was found and the turtle made its way safely. 3:45 p.m. – Police responded to Webb Street to a report of vandalism to a moped. The resident said the damage occurred over the last week. The case is under investigation. Tuesday, July 10 2:00 a.m. – Vandals threw an object through a bay window at an Oakland Street resident. The object was some sort of electrical component for an irrigation system. The case is under investigation. Lexington Police Investigating Home Improvement Schemes

Two residents reported paying for work never completed.

Lexington police are investigating alleged contract and business schemes in town after two residents say they paid for work at their homes that was never started, let alone completed. Two homeowners, from Earl and Merriam streets, said they paid for the removal of oil tanks from their properties, and neither received the services, said Lexington Police Capt. Joseph O’Leary. O'Leary told Patch that a state assistant district attorney asked Lexington to conduct an investigation into the alleged contract and business schemes. There are steps savvy homeowners can take to avoid falling prey to schemes, O'Leary said. First, “Do not respond to solicitors [you] don’t know,” O'Leary said. Grinch-Like Activities Grab Police Attention in Lexington

LPD is looking into break-ins at a local nursery and holiday hotspot, as well as the reported theft of 100 glass ornaments.

Police in Lexington are investigating a mild rash of Grinch-like activities last week. According to a police reports, officers responded to reported breaking-and-enterings at Shemin Nurseries and Seasons Four last Wednesday, Dec. 7. A report of stolen glass ornaments came in that same day.  In the case of Shemin Nurseries, which offered a year-end blowout sale that ended yesterday, someone reportedly entered the Massachusetts Avenue business through a rear window and stole several items. Police declined to reveal what reported missing, citing an ongoing investigation. LPD Arrests Winchester Man for Stealing Gift Cards from Stop & Shop

The alleged thief reportedly used a bad check on a bundle of gift cards.

Lexington Police last week arrested a Winchester man who allegedly walked away from Stop & Shop with $3,000 worth of gift cards after writing a check the market couldn’t cash. According to Lt. Det. Michael McLean, the supermarket's security recently approached police with information about a man using a bad check to steal $3,000 in unknown gift cards. Police were able to trace the old check back to Edward J. King, 38, of 80 Irving St., Winchester, and called him into the station for an interview, McLean said. During his conversation with Lexington investigators, King reportedly made a comment that led to his arrest for larceny by check. Spit Sparks Spat in Lexington Center

Police are looking into a reported incident at Lexington Depot in which a Lexington woman allegedly used "troubling language" and spit twice during a confrontation with a man and his two toddlers.

Lexington Police are looking into an ugly incident in which a local woman allegedly insulted and spat in the direction of two toddlers playing in at the Depot. According to a police report, the woman—a Lexington woman known to police— allegedly chastised the children’s father for allowing them to play in some bushes and called them devils. The man, who was in town visiting family, reportedly became upset when the woman used “troubling language” and spit twice on the ground near the children, police said Monday. According to the police log entry, officers responded to a report that an adult female spat on two children. Halloween Safety and Sex Offender Fears

Halloween safety tips from the Lexington Police; and officials respond to questions about restricting activities of sex offenders on Halloween.

With Halloween and the associated celebrations right around the corner, Patch asked the Lexington Police for some safety advice for trick-or-treaters (and their parents). Here are a few of the tips provided by Lt. James Barry, a spokesman for the Lexington Police Department. -- Look both ways when crossing the street. -- Wear a Safe costume For example, make sure it's not too long and isn't flammable; props should be just that and even plastic weapons should have some give. Makeup is better than masks, but if you wear a mask, make sure the eye holes are large enough. -- If a parent can go with, they should. Monday, Sept. 26 6:25 a.m. – A Shade Street resident called in with a noise complaint about Shire. 9:13 a.m. – As a result of a traffic stop on Hartwell Avenue. Gary Vincent, 26, of 78 Royal Road, Brockton, was arrested on a default warrant out of Waltham District Court for driving with a suspended license and without insurance. 11:36 a.m. – A Follen Road resident reported a breaking and entering through a forced-open front door. 1:44 p.m. – A Hamilton Road resident reported confronting a suspicious person walking through her back yard. UPDATED: Lexington Residents Arrested on Drug Charges

A Lexington man has been charged with cocaine trafficking and a local woman with drug possession and intent to distribute Percocet, following their arrest Wednesday, Sept. 28 in Lexington.

Two Lexington residents are facing multiple drug charges—including a cocaine trafficking charge for one—after a Wednesday night drug bust on Bedford Street. According to a police report, at 10:50 p.m. the night of Sept. 28, officers responded to reported drug/narcotic offenses on Bedford Street. Police arrested two women and one man who allegedly possessed drugs and planned to distribute them. Caitlin R. Greene, 23, of 85 Marrett Road, Lexington, was charged with possession of a Class B substance and possession of a Class B substance (Percocet) with intent to distribute. Leo Boer, 24, of 56 Robbins Road, Lexington, was charged with possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute and cocaine trafficking. According to Lt. James …
