Making the month of May even merrier since 2011.
In any given month, one can find plenty of things to do in Lexington, but historically certain pages of the calendar have been more attractive to tourists than others. Sandwiched between the Patriots’ Day hoopla in April and start of summer vacation in late June, May was one of those months that didn’t exactly scream, “Be here now.” Well, until the past few years anyway. Enter Revolutionary Revelry, an initiative driven by Dawn McKenna and the Tourism Committee to package and promote a month’s worth of events and activities that celebrate Lexington’s arts, culture and history. A Lexington woman wants to turn the Dana Home and the house next door into an upscale inn and restaurant just outside Lexington Center, but neighbors are concerned that she's thinking too big.
A proposal to transform the Dana Home and an adjacent property into an upscale inn just outside Lexington Center has drawn criticism from neighbors and residents concerned about rezoning the residential property to allow for a more robust commercial use. Tricia Perez Kennealy, the Lexington resident behind the project, intends to seek Town Meeting approval of commercial development spot zoning for the residential properties at 2027 and 2013 Massachusetts Ave. and develop a 22-room inn with a 14-tabletop restaurant/lounge using the existing structures. The Liberty Ride is celebrating its 10th anniversary year by offering Lexington residents a discounted rate.
Lexington's oldest-souled 10-year-old, the Liberty Ride, is celebrating its first decade with an anniversary present for local residents. Through the end of the season, the Liberty Ride is rolling back rates by more than half for Lexington residents who hop on afternoon tours at the National Heritage Museum. According to a Liberty Ride press release, for the daily 1 or 2:30 p.m. trolley tours, Lexington residents will receive more than a 50 percent discount on current rates as their prices are rolled back a decade to the Ride’s inaugural season (2002).
