Murray Not Running For Governor; Who Should Run?

Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Murray will not run for governor in 2014, citing the demands of campaigning, serving in elected office and his desire to spend more time with his wife and two young daughters.

Murray will not run for governor in 2014, citing the demands of campaigning, serving in elected office and his desire to spend more time with his wife and two young daughters, his hometown newspaper the Telegram & Gazette of Worcester reported. “It's something I have been thinking about for some time,” Murray said of the decision, which he said came after sitting down to talk it through with his wife, Tammy, and key supporters since the Christmas holidays. Murray, who was mayor of the City of Worcester, told the Telegram & Gazette the demands of running a campaign and serving in office can require 15- and 16-hour days, six and seven days a week and would leave him little time to be with his family. Patrick, Murray Host Air Force Leadership, Talk Hanscom AFB

The Nov. 14 meeting at the State House discussed the state's efforts to protect and promote Hanscom AFB, which faces the threat of a potential Base Realignment and Closure round.

Lt. Gov Murray to Tour Hanscom This Afternoon

Lt. Gov Timothy Murrary will visit Hanscom AFB today, Oct. 2, for a tour of the final phases of construction of the new Massachusetts National Guard Headquarters.

Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray will be in Bedford Tuesday, Oct. 2, for a tour of the new Massachusetts National Guard Headquarters at Hanscom Air Force Base. Following the tour, Murray will offer comments on the efforts of the Commonwealth’s Military Asset and Security Task Force. The task force was announced by Murray in February to protect and promote the state's military bases in the face of a $500 billion cut in federal defense spending by the U.S. Department of Defense. Murray and other officials last toured Hanscom back in March, the second stop on a tour of the state's bases. The visit also included a roundtable discussion at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, a defense company located near the base in Lexington. Reduced funding for Hanscom could …
