Everything You Need to Know About Lexington Open Studios

More than 70 Lexington-affiliated artists will participate in the fifth annual Lexington Open Studios this weekend.

Dozens of Lexington-affiliated emerging and professional artists and artisans will be exhibiting across town from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, as part of the fifth annual Lexington Open Studios. Through this two-day event, 78 artists will discuss and demonstrate their work in home studios, at the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society and at the Community Space at the Munroe Center for the Arts. Lexington Open Studios attendees will also have the chance to win a $250 gift certificate to purchase LOS art by picking up a ticket at all locations and then visiting any, or all, home studios to deposit the tickets in designated …

Local Vocal Jazz Quartet to Perform at Upcoming Munroe Saturday Nights

Acclaimed jazz quartet Fretless will perform jazz and Broadway standards this Saturday, Jan. 12.

The following information was provided on behalf of the Munroe Center for the Arts. Fretless, the acclaimed vocal jazz quartet, will star in the next Munroe Saturday Nights event, to be held at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, Jan. 12.  In order to accommodate a larger audience, the performance will take place at the Community of Christ, 1386 Massachusetts Ave. in Lexington, across the street from the Munroe Center for the Arts.  Munroe Saturday Nights is delighted to present “Fretless” in performance. Luminary Night is Dec. 2, and luminary kits are available now. Fifth percent of proceeds from kits support arts and education.

Luminary kits are now on sale in preparation the Fourth Annual Luminary Night celebration. Betty's Bounce Kicks Off Munroe Saturday Nights This Weekend

The performing arts series begins its third season on Saturday, Sep. 8, featuring a performance by the Lexington-based Betty’s Bounce.

Betty’s Bounce, a local jazz trio performing the evocative, toe-tapping music known as ‘Gypsy Jazz,’ will kick off the third season of the Munroe Saturday Nights performing arts series in Lexington on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. Based in Lexington, Betty’s Bounce performs music in the style of Django Reinhardt, which originated in France in the 1930s. Reinhardt teamed with violinist Stéphane Grappelli to co-found the “Quintette du Hot Club de France,” whose music from the 1930’s and 40’s epitomized the genre. 'Purple Hearts' Punctuating Munroe Saturday Nights

The venue is shifting to First Parish next Saturday, May 12, for a staged reading of Playwright Merrill Meadow's gripping drama, "Purple Hearts."

Don't miss the final presentation in Munroe Saturday Nights' 2012 season: A staged reading of llaywright Merrill Meadow's gripping drama, "Purple Hearts." Staged Readings This Saturday at Munroe

February’s Munroe Saturday Nights performance showcases original plays in staged readings.

The following was provided by Munroe Center for the Arts. Building on the success of the 2011-12 season opener for Munroe Saturday Nights, which featured a staged reading of Don Cohen’s “Length of Stay,” February’s Munroe Saturday Nights production will feature an evening of original one-act plays in staged readings. The plays will be presented on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Munroe Center for the Arts, located at 1403 Massachusetts Ave., in Lexington. The program is free, with donations gratefully accepted.
