Your Board of Selectmen is scheduled to go into executive session tonight for, among other things, contract negotiation with non-union personnel -- the Town Manager. So, it looks like the selectmen are talking contract with Carl Valente, the town manager, a little more than a month after the School Committee extended the contract of Superintendent of Schools Paul Ash in a June 1 executive session. Meanwhile, Lexington just named an interim fire chief to serve for six months while the town searches for a permanent replacement for former Chief William Middlemiss, who retired July 1. Lexington selectmen tackled several hot-button issues on Monday.
In a marathon meeting Monday, the Board of Selectmen tackled several hot-button issues, including Estabrook access, organic waste treatment, the Busa Land, the Battle Road Scenic Byway plans and wine sales at the Farmer's Market. Estabrook Task Force Approved As the clock clicked past 10 p.m., the selectmen voted to approve the charge of an Estabrook School Access Task Force, accept Michelle Ciccolo as its chair and designate Town Manager Carl Valente and Superintendent of Schools Paul Ash as the appointing authorities. The final action, the selectmen said, was an effort to expedite the appointment process, but it's unclear it it will have that effect. 1. The Board of Selectmen are back to meeting at their regular time of 7 p.m., after a few weeks of meeting earlier due to Town Meeting and a week's reprieve provided by the Patriots' Day holiday. A few interesting items on the agenda include a pilot program for LexPress involving seniors and consideration of allowing wine to be sold at the farmers' market, in accordance with a new state statute. 2.
