You Can Support Lexington Schools by Shopping Local

A Lexington business has begun its annual "Shop at Wilson Farm Day" to support 21 local schools, including 11 here in Lexington.

The following announcement was provided by Wilson Farm. Wilson Farm’s annual “Shop at Wilson Farm Day” Fundraiser started this past Wednesday, Jan. 9. Now in its ninth year, the fundraiser is seeking to raise over $16,000 for local area schools, a hefty increase from the $5,000 raise in the 2005 (the first year). Since its inception, Shop at Wilson Farm Day, has helped more than 30 different schools, raising $91,397 to help supplement school budgets. If Wilson Farm is able to help raise this years goal of $16,000, then it will break the $100,000 donation mark. Lexington Farmers Market Opens Today

The LFM's eighth season gets underway at 2 p.m. today, May 29.

Get ready to get fresh and shop local at the same time: The Lexington Famers Market's eighth season opens today.  Market sponsors will ring the opening bell at 2 p.m. this afternoon, May 29, and the market will remain open through 6:30 p.m. The season extends through the summer and into October. As part of the opening day festivities, Lexington resident Eric Eid-Reiner will play contra dance tunes, there will be a fife and drum performance and Valery Marcantonio and her Tap Dancers will conclude the afternoon's entertainment, according to the LFM website.  Located at the corner of Mass Ave and Woburn Street, the popular Lexington Farmers Market is now in its eighth year, and earned the title of Best of Boston in 2010.
