VIDEO: Tricon Sports Supporting Coaches Across Continents

Local business using soccer to teach life lessons here and in Africa.

Soccer is known as the universal game, but in the right hands—or feet—it can also be a universal aid. Tricon Sports here in Lexington has teamed up with Coaches Across Continents to collect gently used or new soccer equipment to send overseas in an effort to design and implement social development programs in Africa using the sport as a starting point. Earlier this summer, Tricon began accepting things like soccer balls, cleats, shin pads, socks and just about anything else that would facilitate a soccer game. The equipment will then be shipped overseas where, according to Coaches Across Continents, experienced coaches will work with and assist developing regions using a designed soccer education curriculum. Your Favorite Sporting Goods Store in Lexington Is…

The votes, comments and reviews have been tallied and Lexington Patch readers have picked their favorite sporting goods store in town.

This one wasn’t close. With 29 of 34 total votes, Tricon Sports rules as the top local sporting goods store, according to Lexington Patch readers who participated in this week’s Best of Patch Readers’ Choice poll. Voting closed at 9 a.m. this morning, April 13, but Tricon raced away from the field straight out of the gates on Monday. Tricon Sports also received a positive business review this week. “Tricon has the best prices, friendly staff and great sports gear,” wrote Patch user Chorlette O’Neill. “I shop here for all my kids sports equipment, bats, gloves, swimming, cleats etc… The customer service is top notch especially on a Saturday on the first day of the soccer.
