Cubist, VistaPrint made the grade.
The Boston Globe has ranked the state’s top 100 publicly held companies by composite performance and two Lexington companies made the list. Cubist Pharmaceuticals was the highest ranked, checking in at No. 6 after rising 70 spots from its No. 76 position on the 2012 list. Located on Hayden Avenue, Cubist is a bio-pharmaceutical company that, according to its website, is "focused on the research, commercialization and creation of pharmaceutical products that address unmet medical needs in the acute care environment." VistaPrint also made the list, at No. 48. It fell 27 spots from last year, when it was ranked No. 21. VistaPrint, the business branding/design and e-commerce company, currently has its North American headquarters on Hayden Ave…

Already supported by the town’s TIF approval, the Vistaprint expansion project was one of 17 approved for participation in the state Economic Assistance Coordinating Council’s Economic Development Incentive Program.
More good news for Vistaprint as the international company considers expanding its Lexington operation. Earlier this month, the state’s Economic Assistance Coordinating Council approved the project – which would expand Vistaprint’s North American headquarters at the Ledgemont campus on Hayden Avenue in Lexington – for participation in its Economic Development Incentive Program. That approval would mean $360,000 in EDIP investment tax credits for the project, according to a press release. Prior to that news from the state, a special Town Meeting here in Lexington approved a tax increment financing agreement that would provide 13 years of tax relief for the company. Supporters of the TIF, worth about $1.2 million to Vistaprint, viewed the…

In a voice vote not quite close enough to count, Town Meeting members on Nov. 19 approved a tax increment financing proposal that would offer tax relief as an incentive for the company to expand.
With Town Meeting’s approval last night of a tax increment financing plan, Lexington took what supporters called important step toward convincing Vistaprint to keep its North American operation here for the long haul. The plan, known as a TIF, offers 13 years of tax relief to Vistaprint and its landlord, Hobbs Brook, in exchange for an expansion to the Ledgemont campus on Hayden Avenue that could allow Vistapint to expand and generate more than $600,000 annually in real property taxes for the town. According to estimates, property tax projections put the financial benefit of the Ledgemont expansion at about $7.8 million over 13 years, with the TIF offering about $1.2 million in tax relief to Vistaprint, an online company that provides …

A special Town Meeting convening tonight will take up articles seeking additional funding for the Estabrook School building project and access improvements, along with a tax increment financing request from Vistaprint.
It'll start with a dedication, and then they get down to the money business. At 7 p.m. tonight at Cary Memorial Hall, prior to the start of a special Town Meeting, a ceremony will be held for the dedication of the building’s auditorium, to be renamed as Margery Milne Battin Hall. Over the summer, the Board of Selectmen approved the naming of the auditorium after Battin, a former longtime town moderator and role model for women who died less than two weeks after that decision. “I can’t think of anybody in this whole community who has made more of a contribution to the community,” Norm Cohen, a selectman, said at the time. The dedication came after a request from Bill Dailey, another respected resident, who suggested naming the auditorium …

Representatives from Vistaprint went before the Board of Selectmen earlier this week to explain their drive to expand their business in town, seeking tax incentives for their expansion.
Led by Vice President of Manufacturing Chris Connors, Vistaprint went before Lexington’s Board of Selectmen on Monday, Oct. 1, to talk about their plans to expand in town in hopes of getting tax incentives towards construction of their proposed $57 million dollar expansion. VistaPrint's North American corporate headquarters is located in the Ledgemont #2 building up on 95 Hayden Avenue. With new owners Hobbs Brook Management, a subsidiary of FM Global, building a third Ledgemont Building, Vistaprint is hoping to lease at least 100,000, if not all 150,000 square-feet of soon-to-be-available space. This would make way in the next five years for another 300 employees to add to their current roster of 880. In connection with this, …

Understanding the need for a special fall Town Meeting, the Board of Selectmen passed a motion to hold one on Monday, Nov. 19.
The Board of Selectmen Monday voted to hold a special Town Meeting on Monday, Nov. 19 at Cary Hall. Anticipated warrant articles include fiscal 2013 budget adjustment, Estabrook School road access improvements, a switch to electronic voting at all Town Meetings and Vistaprint’s Tax Increment Financing (TIF) proposal. It seemed Vistaprint's urging of a TIF proposal tipped the balance in favor of holding a fall Town Meeting for the selectmen, who seemed weary that, if this wasn't voted on soon, Vistaprint may not be able to expand its lot in town, which is currently located at Ledgemont Building #2 at 95 Hayden Avenue. The board mentioned that Vistaprint hopes to contact Hobbes Brook Management regarding plans to rezone the space at …
