  The (unofficial) results are in and, after 83 percent of Lexington's registered voters cast their ballots, it looks like the town, like the state, went with Democrats and "Yes" votes across the board. Scroll down below the votes for dispatches from the field on Election Day. Obama Over Romney: U.S. President With 12,675 votes in Lexington, President Barack Obama tallied more than twice the total of Republican challenger Mitt Romney, who earned 5,287. Lexington's hometown candidate, Green Party nominee Jill Stein, received 159 votes, while Gary Johnson's Libertarian ticket earned only 136 votes.  Warren Wins Lexington, State: U.S. Senate Lexington voters went for Democrat Elizabeth Warren almost as steadily as they did for the president. …

Primary Polling Locations Adjust to School Projects in Lexington

In advance of the Sept. 6 state primaries coming up next week, here's a refresher on the eight polling locations for Lexington's nine precincts.

The following information was provided by the town of Lexington. Voting for the Sept. 6 State Primary will be held for Lexington’s nine precincts at eight voting locations. Voting at precincts 2 and 4 will be held in the ‘kindergarten classrooms’ located at the far-right end of the Bowman and Bridge schools, due to gym unavailability during building renovations. Signage will direct voters to parking area and voting entrance. Bowman School & Bridge School Voting Changes: Estabrook School Parking Changes: All schools in Lexington will be in session for a half-day on Thursday, Sept. 6, with middle school dismissal at 11:45 a.m. and elementary school dismissal at 12:15 p.m.   Staff will remain at all school buildings for professional …

UPDATED: Special Election: Turnout Lower Than Expected; Results Expected By 9 p.m.

Precinct wardens around Lexington report a slower-than-expected turnout well into today's special election seeking to finance through a debt exclusion projects to rebuild Estabrook Elementary and renovate the Bridge and Bowman schools.

With just minutes remaining before the polls close in Lexington, many around town are wondering whether the lower-than-expected voter turnout will bode well for the debt exclusion requests that went before the voters in today's special election. According to Town Clerk Donna Hooper, the expectation as of about 7 p.m., an hour before the polls close, was for about 30 percent voter participation and results to be posted online by 9p.m. tonight. At the Bridge and Bowman elementary schools, precincts 4 and 2 respectively, voter turnout ticked toward 25 percent during the early evening, a time many expected activity to pick up as people returned from work.
