A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on May 7 in Lexington.

Lex TEE It Up: At 11 a.m. this morning at Pine Meadows Golf Club, you can play 9 holes of golf, win some prizes and eat a light lunch (burgers and hot dogs) for the discounted rate of $15 per person. 1. Early Release for the Lexington Public Schools: With the Thanksgiving Holiday practically upon us, the Lexington Public Schools are letting students out early today. 2. Thanksgiving Wines: From 4 to 7 p.m. this evening at its Mass Ave location, Busa Wine & Spirits will be pouring reds and whites from France and Washington State in an attempt to help customers pick the perfect wine to have with Thanksgiving dinner. 3. It's about that time when leftover turkey gets to be a little bit old, so here's one last helping of the Thanksgiving holiday before we switch gears and start talking about candles, trees, lights, shopping, stockings and champagne toasts to usher in the New Year. Notes From the May 16 Selectmen's Meeting

Lexington selectmen tackled several hot-button issues on Monday.

In a marathon meeting Monday, the Board of Selectmen tackled several hot-button issues, including Estabrook access, organic waste treatment, the Busa Land, the Battle Road Scenic Byway plans and wine sales at the Farmer's Market. Estabrook Task Force Approved As the clock clicked past 10 p.m., the selectmen voted to approve the charge of an Estabrook School Access Task Force, accept Michelle Ciccolo as its chair and designate Town Manager Carl Valente and Superintendent of Schools Paul Ash as the appointing authorities. The final action, the selectmen said, was an effort to expedite the appointment process, but it's unclear it it will have that effect. Arbor Day, another "Race to Nowhere" screening and more.

1. It's Arbor Day, a nationally-celebrated occasion, obseved on the last Friday in April, in which people and groups are encouraged to care for and plant trees in their community. 2. In celebration of Arbor Day, the Lexington Field and Garden Club traditionally honors members who have passed away the previous year by planting a tree in their memories. The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at Hastings Park, at the intersection of Massachusetts Ave. and Worthen Road. Also at the ceremony, Lexington’s status as a Tree City will be recognized and Ann Webster, the club's president, will say a few words. 3. Notes From the April 25 Selectmen's Meeting

Board reorganizes, celebrates a birthday and breezes through a few action items.

-- After the selectmen reorganzied Monday night, the finished product looked a lot like the board before annual Town Meeting interrupted its schedule. Hank Manz reclaimed his spot at the head of the table after accepting the nomination (from Norm Cohen) to chair the board for the second straight year. -- With the reorganization out of the way, Manz excused himself from the room, saying he had some business to take care of that was very important. A minute or two later, Manz reappeared carrying a plate with six cupcakes and a candle in each. The sweet treats were to celebrate the birthday of Lynne Pease, executive assistant to the Board of Selectmen.
