Y To Offer Training on Recognizing Sex Abuse

Info session scheduled for Wednesday morning at Woburn City Hall.

  The North Suburban YMCA and Darkness to Light are joining forces to help educate the public on sexual abuse. The Darkness to Light program Stewards of Children emphasizes child safety as an adult’s responsibility. With the Y partnership, this program and its trainings will be available to residents of Lexington, Arlington, Burlington, Winchester and Woburn. Trainings are open to the public and can be of specific interest to youth sports organizations, coaches, camp counselors, teachers, schools, faith centers and other service organizations, according to the YMCA. “One of the Y’s areas of focus is on youth development,” said Amy Turner, Branch Executive Director of the North Suburban YMCA.  “We believe that every child deserves the …

Lexington's Jack Fucci Named Head of Waltham YMCA

Fucci will be the executive director of the Waltham branch of the YMCA of Greater Boston after leading the Oak Square facility.

The following announcement was sent out by the YMCA of Greater Boston: The YMCA of Greater Boston is pleased to announce the appointment of Jack Fucci as the new Executive Director of the Waltham YMCA. Fucci, a Watertown native and Lexington resident, has led the Oak Square YMCA in Brighton, also a part of the YMCA of Greater Boston, for the past ten years. While at the Oak Square Y, Fucci led a team of committed volunteers and staff that resulted in a YMCA that is the center of community life in the Brighton area.  More people attend the Oak Square YMCA daily than any other Y locally due to its ability to change lives through a culture of inclusion and accessibility that can be a model for kindred organizations.
