Lexington Faces North Quincy in High School Quiz Show Finals

The state championship broadcast will air at 6:30 p.m. this Sunday, May 19, on WGBH 2.

The following was provided on behalf of High School Quiz Show. It’s down to the top two Massachusetts public high schools on High School Quiz Show, as the academic teams from Lexington High School and North Quincy High School compete for the state championship Sunday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. on WGBH 2. The winner moves on to compete in the inaugural Governor’s Cup Challenge against New Hampshire Public Television’s Granite State Challenge championship winner. Lexington High School advanced to the state championship after defeating Rockport High School in the semifinals, and North Quincy High School outscored Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in the semifinal round.  Leading up to Sunday’s state championship broadcast on May 19 at 6:30pm, …

Lexington High Team Qualifies for High School Quiz Show

LHS squad is one of 16 to advance to compete in the show's fourth season.

The following information was provided on behalf of High School Quiz Show. Sixteen Massachusetts public high school academic teams, including a team from Lexington High School, have advanced to compete on season four of High School Quiz Show, WGBH’s academic quiz show hosted by Billy Costa, premiering Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. on WGBH 2. The show’s production team announced the 16 schools on High School Quiz Show’s Facebook page earlier today. Teams qualified by earning top scores on “Super Sunday,” an event at which registered school teams each took an identical 100-question oral quiz at WGBH Studios in Brighton. PHOTOS: LHS Team Competes at High School Quiz Show

The results are embargoed until after the matchup broadcasts March 18 but the Quiz Show shared these photos from the action against Lincoln-Sudbury.

Lexington High’s quiz team battled Lincoln-Sudbury yesterday, Jan. 29, during a taping of High School Quiz Show. Now in its third season, High School Quiz Show is a single-elimination bracketed tournament featuring qualifying matches, quarterfinals and semifinals, all leading up to a Massachusetts championship match. Each game features four rounds: toss-up, head-to-head, categories and the 90-second lightning round. Repping LHS are team members Ben Edelstein, Andrew Yang, Alison Stein and Jonah Bader. The team’s coaches are Whitney Hagins and Rachel Mitton. And, from the looks of it, a sizeable cheering section journeyed to the WGBH Studios in Brighton. LHS Quiz Team Needs a Cheering Section

WGBH is inviting residents to support the LHS quiz team when it takes on Lincoln-Sudbury in the High School Quiz Show competition this Sunday at the WGBH studios.

Lexington High’s quiz team will take on Lincoln-Sudbury this Sunday, Jan. 29, during a taping of High School Quiz Show and WGBH is inviting Lexington residents ages 7 and older to support their team from the studio audience. The matchup is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. and will be taped in front of a live audience at the WGBH Studios at One Guest Street, Brighton. Anyone interested in attending can find registration information on the High School Quiz Show website. LHS Team Takes on High School Quiz Show

High School Quiz Show announces season three high school academic teams on Facebook and Lexington High joins the lineup vying to take down defending champs Hamilton-Wenham Regional HS.

The following information is from press releases from WGBH. Sixteen Massachusetts public high school academic teams have advanced to compete on season three of High School Quiz Show, WGBH’s Emmy-Award winning fast-paced academic game show hosted by Billy Costa, premiering Feb. 12, 2012 -- and one of them hails from Lexington High.  The show’s production team announced the 16 academic teams on High School Quiz Show’s Facebook page at 3 p.m. today, Monday, Nov. 14. Participating teams qualified by earning top scores on “Super Sunday,” an event at which 91 registered school teams each took an identical 100-question oral quiz at WGBH Studios.
