Election Results: Pato Joins Selectmen, Corcoran-Ronchetti to Planning Board

The (unofficial) results are in.

  Fewer than 10 percent of Lexington’s registered voters turned out for the annual Town Elections held Monday, March 4. But every vote counts, and after every vote was counted, Lexington voters elected a new selectman and a new Planning Board member, and re-elected a handful of other officials. A host of Town Meeting members were also elected and re-elected to seats representing the town’s nine precincts. The only contested race for town office was for Planning Board, where Nancy Corcoran-Ronchetti defeated Richard McDonough by a tally of 1,138 votes to 429.  Running unopposed, Joseph Pato and Deb Mauger were elected to the Board of Selectmen. Lexington Preps for Special Election Possibilities

The domino effect following former US Sen. John Kerry’s appointment as Secretary of State conceivably could trickle all the way down to the local level, according to Town Clerk Donna Hooper.

Lexington’s annual Town Elections are less than three weeks away, but planning for the polls won’t stop there. No, Town Clerk Donna Hooper and her team will be preparing for at least one special election (plus primary) as Massachusetts looks to replace longtime U.S. Sen. John Kerry, following his appointment as Secretary of State. “These specials do pop up, and we saw this one coming to some degree,” said Hooper. “However, they clearly do throw us a curveball.” First up will be the town election, scheduled for Monday, March 4. Lexington's Town Election, Voter Registration Deadline Approaching

Next Tuesday marks the deadline to register in Lexington if you want to vote in the March 4 Town Election.

The following information was provided by the Town of Lexington. The Board of Registrars reminds all resident citizens who will be 18 years of age on or before March 4 and who not currently registered to vote in Lexington that 8 p.m. next Tuesday, Feb. 12, is the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming annual Town Election. Mail-in voter registration affidavit forms are available at the Town Clerk’s Office, Cary Memorial Library and online at http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/eleifv/howreg.htm.  Forms are also available from other City or Town Clerk offices.  Registrations filed out-of-town will be forwarded to Lexington. All newly registered voters submitting mail-in voter registrations must submit a photocopy of personal identification…

Interested in Municipal Government? Town Meeting Candidates Needed

According to Town Clerk Donna Hooper, a few precincts have more positions to be filled than declared candidates.

With just days remaining for residents to declare candidacy to represent their precincts as Town Meeting members, five of Lexington’s nine precincts still have more positions available than candidates, according to Town Clerk Donna Hooper. Residents interested in seeking election to Town Meeting have until 5 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 11 to obtain nomination papers. Meanwhile, the deadline for incumbent Town Meeting members to indicate their intent to seek reelection as a candidate for Town Meeting in the 2013 annual Town Election was Monday, Jan. 7. This Friday Begins the Paper Chase for Town Office

This Friday, Dec. 14, is the first day prospective candidates can pull nomination papers for offices on the ballot for the annual Town Election to be held March 4, 2013. The deadline for pulling papers is Jan. 11, 2013, and candidates for major office must collect signatures from at least 50 registered voters, while candidates for Town Meeting must obtain valid signatures from at least 10 voters from their precinct, according to an announcement from the Lexington Town Clerk’s Office. Super Tuesday: Wang Wins Housing Authority Seat, Romney Romps

In the town's only contested race for elected office, Weidong Wang edged out Dan McCabe to claim a seat on the Lexington Housing Authority. Former Gov. Mitt Romney easily outpaced his competition in the Republican primary.

There was just one contested race for elected office yesterday in Lexington, but it was a close one.  According to unofficial preliminary results released last night by the Town Clerk's Office, Weidong Wang, a political newcomer in town who positioned himself as a voice for Lexington's Asian community, narrowly defeated Dan McCabe to win a five-year term on the Lexington Housing Authority. Just 24 percent of Lexington's 21,520 registered voters turned out for the annual Town Elections, which coincided with Super Tuesday and the Massachusetts presidential primary. Housing Authority was the only contested race for elected office and Wang earned 2,295, edging out McCabe's tally of 2,033. The difference between the two fell well short of the …

Super Tuesday: Sights and Sounds from the Polls Around Lexington

Updated at 12 p.m. Here are a few quick hits and observations from this morning. -- Though the voters only trickled in at some locations around town in the first few hours after the polls opened, election day started out with a bang. Literally. A head-on collision outside the Estabrook School, the Precinct 7 polling place in Lexington, shut down a portion of Grove Street. However, there were no injuries sustained in the accident and police and fire personnel directed traffic so as to allow residents to carry out their civic duty, an officer on scene said. -- Around 8 a.m. this morning, the publicity team for Jill Stein, the hometown Green Party presidential hopeful, said she would be arriving in Lexington sometime today, but they weren't …

Election 2012: A Few Hours Left to Register to Vote March 6

Today's the last day to register to vote in the Town Elections and Presidential Primaries scheduled for Tuesday, March 6. Also, some specimen ballots.

The Lexington Town Clerk's office is open until 8 p.m. tonight for last-minute registration for the annual Town Elections and the Presidential Primaries, both scheduled for Tuesday, March 6.  As of 4 p.m. today, Feb. 15, the final day to register for the vote, the Town Clerk's Office had received 13 voter registration requests, according to Assistant Town Clerk Dianne Snell, who said that's probably no more than usual this close to an election. The Town Clerk's Office has posted specimen ballots online. According to those, there are several contested races for Town Meeting, but the only contest for elected office is for Housing Authority, which pits Greeley Village resident Daniel L. McCabe against Weidong Wong, a Reed Street resident. …

A few days after the Jan. 17 deadline for Lexington residents to submit nomination papers for elected office, Town Clerk Donna Hooper shared her preliminary listing of candidate names.

Following last Tuesday's deadline for candidates seeking elected office or Town Meeting membership in Lexington's annual town election to submit nomination papers, two precincts are still short for Town Meeting candidates. On Friday, Jan. 20, Town Clerk Donna Hooper provided a preliminary listing of candidate names on the ballot. This list -- which is posted in PDF form over to your right -- shows several contested races, while a few precincts are still searching for folks to become Town Meeting members.  “Precinct 3 and 7 are both one candidate short,” Hooper said in an email. “Those positions would have to be filled by write-in or precinct caucus before town meeting begins.” According to Hooper’s preliminary listing, Precinct 3 needs …
