You Can Still Join the Lexington Citizens Academy

Get an inside look at the departments and services of Lexington's local government, and learn about the role you play in town operations.

There are still some spots remaining for the fifth Lexington Citizens' Academy, a 10-session crash course in local government and town operations.

Starting in mid-September, the interactive academy will meet Thursday evenings at various town facilities, where participants can engage with town staff and get a first-hand look at opportunities for civic involvement.
There is no fee to attend the Citizens' Academy, but early registration is recommended. The academy might be of interest if you've ever wondered:

  • Who builds trails on Conservation lands?
  • What is inside the Police Station?
  • Where you can buy a rain barrel?
  • When you need a building permit?
  • Why a fire engine responds along with the ambulance?
  • How many different types of Public Works vehicles there are?
  • How the public schools are using technology in teaching?
For more information about the Lexington Citizens' Academy, contact Melissa Jones at the Town Manager's Office:  mjones@lexingtonma.gov or 781-862-0500 ext. 209.
